Hi. My name is Daniel Cox.  I’m 21 years old.  This blog site is intended to update and inform people that have an interest or are curious about the things that are happening to me and around me while I’m in South Africa. 
I’m hoping that a lot of people will view this website on a regular basis.  Not because I want to be the popular kid who everyone knows but because I want everyone to see and experience the things that I am and will continue to experience while I’m in South Africa.
I have been living here in Port Elizabeth, South Africa since the beginning of March ’06 and God has opened my eyes to amazing truths in life.  Kids are a blessing!  Their laughter, smiles, and their ability to enjoy life during any type of hardship is extremely beautiful!  So many kids are abandoned and or become homeless every day.  Those children are left to take care of themselves and quite often everyone else in their family.  They are beaten and abused to the point that some of them won’t smile or laugh anymore.  It’s such and awful sight. 
As terrible as all those things are…you can help.  When I came here I came to help an organization called Oceans of Mercy.  I currently help by organizing food parcels to give to the families who can’t afford their kids.  In a matter of 2-3 days, four of us were able to find close to 300 children that are hungry and quite often taking turns having meals with their siblings.  Oceans of Mercy helps families in the States sponsor a child on a monthly basis.  Each month sponsoring $32.  Those families sponsoring children help them get their smile and laughter back and at the same time, put some food in their stomach while they are at school.
Each of us has an opportunity to make a difference in this world with the one life we have to live.  I just pray that I am doing everything I can.
God is doing some amazing things here so continue to check up on us and see what’s happening.
